Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 68105
Hanging characters get truncated in Japanese vertical writing
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
Phenomenon Hanging characters in vertical writing become invisible when a footer is present. Illustration See an snapshot attached. Reproduction 1. Open a bugdoc attached. 2. Type Ctrl+A and move an upper margin bar slightly up and down. You would find the hanging characters get clipped by the area of the footer. 3. Export the document into PDF format and confirm it. You would find that the hidden characters now appear. Acknowledgments Teppei Tsuno found this phenomenon and reported it to the discussion mailing list of Japanese native language project. Taro Kawahira confirmed the phenomenon and found the hidden characters could be seen in an exported PDF format.

MRU->FME: as long as HDU is absent, could please have a look wether this is in Writer formatting or in font stuff. This "phenomenon" seems to be visible under certain font configuration. On my Linux e.g. it looked good; also on my home XP. On my work XP there it was slightly visible (the used font is available), but when formatting the whole text with font "PMingLiu" it was best visible. Then in last but one line you could see that the punctuation mark was not shown anymore (at the left colored mark).
