Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 68395
OoO Spreadsheet very slow moving trough sheets on Intel Mac.
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:31:25 UTC
Using standard X11 from apple (10.4.7) on intel macbook together with OoO 2.0.3 for intel and installed as described in the readme/pdf doc: OoO Spreadsheet is very slow moving trough sheets on Intel Mac. If you have just some numbers and move down more than 10 rows (just below what you can see on the screen) just with your arrow, you see that OoO is building the sheet up (over and over again) really slow. Tryed installation with and without the 'use apple fonts', seems withoud is somewhat faster but still to slow to work as production environment. Could it be a setting somewhere? (Never seen this on PPC).
Added video so you can see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgPHG_w50BM the file: http://diensten.eu/debug/finalmarks2006.ods And uploaded the file that has it (amongst other of course, but it's not on all files i've noticed). I also tryed to remove lines with the spellcheck (i saw that colom was even slower than the rest), but didn't make much difference. What i did notice is that it is not always as slow as in the video, but you can always notice that when you release the arrow key ooo is still scrolling (and normally it would stop immideatly)
Hi Eric, please have a look at this Issue. Frank
.
ericb->willybnl Sorry, no problem for me : this is fast, no slow down -> worksforme. How much memory have you installed on your machine ?
1GB on a macbook 2.0GHz. Should be way sufficient. note: no problems at all with NeoOffice (based on the same code).
@eric: I can confirm that this happens on my MacIntel laptop if I go past the number of presently displayed cells either left/right or up/down. It is very disconcerting. I will check the PPC verison, but I think that this also happens there. This is with 2.0.4 and 2.1m1. James McKenzie
When moving through a large >11 columns or page width or >50 rows or larger than page length calc file, movement looks like the program is redrawing the new lines in from the top (if scrolling down). This makes movement across, down or up very slow once the current page is exhausted (you can go down approximately thirty or so lines and over a few columns depending on size) then this effect begins. This happens on the PPC as well as Intel releases. James McKenzie
