Description jeongkyu.kim 2006-10-02 04:16:40 UTC
Automatic numbering while typing ignores Korean numbers. Currently, it seems to
recognizes only Arabic numbers and alpabets.

The following numberings are shown at option dialog ( Format > Bullets and
Numbering... > Options) and expected to be recognized by automatic numbering

 - ì¼ ì´ ì‚¼
 - ㄱ ㄴ ㄷ
 - 가 나 다
.

How to reproduce,

1. Open Writer.
2. Make sure that 'Format > AutoFormat > While Typing' is checked.
3. Input '1. Test' and hit Enter.
4. Confirm that automatic numbering works for the test string.
5. Create a new document.
6. Input '가. 테스트' and hit Enter.
7. Confirm that automatic numbering does not work for the test string.

jeongkyu -> tora:

Would you take a look at this issue and check if this requirements also applies
to Japanese version?

jeongkyu:
Thank you for filing this issue and giving me a chance to think of.

There are 11 types of Japanese character sets for numbering.
  - Fullwidth Western letters A B C
  - Fullwidth numbers 1 2 3
  - Circled numbers â‘  â‘¡ â‘¢
  - Chinese characters (normal use) 一 二 三
  - Chinese characters (written contracts) 甲 乙 丙
  - Chinese characters (new year cards) å ä¸‘ 寅
  - Chinese characters (receipt) 壱 å¼ å‚
  - Normal Katakana (Dictionary order) ア イ ウ
  - Halfwidth Katakana (Dictionary order) ï½± ï½² ï½³
  - Normal Katakana (Traditional order) イ ロ ãƒ
  - Normal Katakana (Traditional order) イ ロ ハ

Current behavior of Writer in OOo 2.0.4:
 - A set of fullwidth numbers is recognized as a number, but gets
converted into ASCII number when the automatic numbering occurs.

 - The rests are not treated as a type of numbering system.

Requirements:
I cannot answer at this moment. Automatic number recognition for those
characters seems not to be classified into high priority in the Japanese
Office suite market nor considered as useful functionality.

But I am not sure of the actual requirements on this functionality and
thus asking comments in the mailing list of Japanese community.

Requirements based on Korean culture may differ from that of Japanese one.
 Please proceed this issue.

MRU->OS: I guess that none of the Asian numbers are recognized by the
Autoformat/Autocorrect feature. We should add the ability somehow in the future.

jeongkyu -> tora: Thanks a lot for your comment. I agree that priority of this
is not high, of course.

jeongkyu -> mru: Thanks for evaluating this issue and adding your comment.
