Description alex.thurgood 2006-10-15 10:03:31 UTC
Start OOo, ensure that no document is opened (i.e. no default Writer document
for example, as some distribs still do).
Click on File - New - Presentation
Choose "From template", select "Presentations" from the drop down menu, and then
"Introducing a new product", and press Next
Choose a slide design and then press Next
Select any slide transition effect from the list

OOo promptly crashes. No file recovery is proposed even though the crash
reporter starts.

100% Reproducible on Windows XP, Linux Debian Sarge, FreeBSD 6.1

Also confirmed on Ubuntu 6.06, Mandriva 2006

Further info : if the preview box is unticked the problem doesn't occur. This
reminds me of a previous bug that we used to have with screen transition effects
that used to cause Impress to die (can't remember in which version that one
occurred right now)

It also begs the question of whether the sanity tests are really appropriate,
since this kind of bug should've been easy to detect.
