In the new multimonitor mode, you cannot switch between the normal, notes, and
handout views while the slide show is running.  However, clicking the respective
tab does highlight the new tab.

OOo 680m188 build 9022 Linux with Xnest

This is not a bug but an enhancement.

I agree that switching views is an enhancement, but part of the issue is still a
bug: the tab control change independently of the view (see the screenshot).  If
the enhancement is not implemented, at least the tab control should be disabled.
