Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 71162
Base ignores Windows regional date format
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:45:17 UTC
I'm connected to a MySQL database over ODBC. I have a date column in my database that is of the form YYYY-mm-dd. However, Base formats the date as mm/dd/yy even though my Windows preferences are to format dates as YYYY-mm-dd. I realize that most people in America write dates as mm/dd/yy, but this is a very foolish way to do it. OpenOffice should follow my system preferences (not to mention ISO standards). Thanks, Tim
Another problem with this is that I can't tell the difference between 2000-01-01 and 2100-01-01 -- they're both displayed as 01/01/00. I realized that I can change the format by right clicking the column header, but it would be nice if OO respected system settings by default.
clu->tgildea: you can change that under (tools/options/language settings) and the settings depends of what 'nationality' your oo is - as i know it is defined that way and i could imagine, if we make it like you describes it (also a valid possibility) a lot of people will send issues that their 'english' office running on a asian os do not match to english date standard .. for the second addition, please write a seperate issue (rule: one bug - one issue, see also: http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/basic_rules.html) and describe step by step what you do (date formats can be used in a lot of parts in oo and if you do not describe it more precisely, we have to guess ..) thx

fs->tgilda: What's your setting in "Tools / Options / Language settings / Languages / Locale setting"? Reason why I'm asking: There's a distinction between "user interface language" and "Locale setting". The former only affects, well, the language of the user interface, while the latter affects things such as number (and thus currency) formats.
