Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 71199
shape mouse interactions are to complicated for shapes without fill and outline
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:11:44 UTC
Create presentation in OOo and save it as *.ppt Then reopen with OOo and U can't move with text fields.
Created attachment 40331 [details] cannot move with text fields, fonts incompatibilty when opened with MS office
Reassigned.
Set to new and change the target.
I can reproduce the bug. You don't need the PPT export / import. You can also reproduce the bug when you - insert a rectangle - write some text into the rectangle - set the area filling and the line style to invisible - now you can't select or move the rectangle by clicking on it or draging it. Please have a look.
currently we have a special selection handling for text shapes only. I thing we should use that special handling for any shape that has no outline and no filling. Would that make sense?
AW->CL: Behaviour is different in draw/impress and depends on options/allow quick text editing wich in on by default in impress and off in draw. So, in draw such a shape can be dragged intuitively when clicking and dragging the text (as expected). With quick editing, the click is not available but You get a text cursor already when hoovering over the selected, not-yet textedited shape. I would recommend to do no big changes ATM but think about it when redesigning the interactions one day. As a workaround, usage of the keyboard or switching of quick text editing is offered, it's not really a problem but an inconvenience. I cannot think about a simple, now possible thing to do quickly (i thought about 2,3 possibilities, i can list to You when interested), we will need the rework and overlay usage. Just think about something like a moving grip top-left on selected object (like a tab rider) also showin object name and/or data (pos/size,...).
ok since there is a work around to this (switching of quick text edit) I suggest we fix this issue as soon as we rework the interactions with the new drawing layer features. Retargeting to 2.x
