Description Unknown 2002-08-25 09:28:48 UTC
Every page on the OpenOffice.org web site that I have seen so far has contained
a title of "OpenOffice.org." This makes navigating back to a previous page
using the Go menu or history list in my browser very difficult as each page has
the same name. Please name all of your web pages appropriatly.

Hi
We are aware of the issue and it is a characteristic of the site.
there is nothing that can be done to fix it.
closing as "wontfix"

You've got to be kidding me. You won't edit the title tags on your
web site? I'm curious as to why. You do realize this is a usability
issue with the web site, I hope.

Hi, Matt,
I kid you not.
this issue has been a nuisance since 1999. There is a really clumsy and
breakable hack to enable unique title pages, but for those reasons it's not
enabled.
Here's the scoop: each page of OOo is composed of several parts, put
together on the fly by the jvm (java virtual machine) which coordinates the
website. The head is the same for *all* pages, hence the title is the same
across the board.
We can create the hack that scoops the title from a competing title but that
really risks breaking the system and is server intensive.
so, we live with it.
Hope this clarifies it for you.

As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate
issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is
unfortunately to set them to verified.
