Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 74157
Allow note markers to be displayed without having to display all non-printing characters
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:42:49 UTC
Hi, Note markers (i.e. the small yellow boxes indicating there is a note) in imported Word documents are not (or at least not always) displayed unless the option "Non-printing characters (Ctrl+F10)" is checked. As non-printing characters in general can cause a document to be come cluttered, it would be very useful if one could select note markers to be displayed independently of non-printing characters. This for instance is the case in Word 97. One could of course specify that only notes are to be displayed as non-printing characters under "Tools | Options | OpenOffice.org Writer | Formatting Aids | Display of", but that would make the option of displaying non-printing characters in general to be pretty much useless.
boudewijnovergaauw, any chance you could provide sample document?
Reassigned to requirements.
Created attachment 42765 [details] Zip file with documents showing notes issues
Hi, I added the requested attachment, containing not only a Word document illustrating the issue, but an OASIS OpenDocument version of it as well, which also requires non-printing characters to be turned on to display the note markers.
ES->MOD: I consider this as a bug. What do you think?
