When saving any type, impress, calc or writer in MS97 format, no file extension
is attached. The  file is saved with just the file name and no extension. It can
be opened in Opent Office but can not be attached and emailed as a Word etc
document.

Framework issue.

Which OOo version do you use? What operating system? what a file picker? Without
these information this is not a valid issue.
