Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 76275
initial snap to grid point for text is lost
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:31:01 UTC
Turn on snap to grid and draw some text somewhere. If the mode is set so that the text oriented to the lower left side of the text box, then it appears that the left-most font baseline point is what is actually snapped to the grid. Anyway, that's fine, but now pick up the text and reposition it. You can never get it back to the original position because the bounding box is now what is snapped to the grid. If I don't change grid settings I should be able to position the text back to the original position. IMHO, text should work as in Inkscape or Corel Draw. The lower left base line point should (at least optionally) be the point which gets the attached to the grid.
Reassigned.
I don't understand the description. Please add a step by step description.
1. Create a blank drawing. Set grid to inches with 9 points between each inch. Turn on snap to grid. Zoom in 200% 2. Select Text->Format. Fill in 0 for all four borders. Select the bottom left text anchor. 3. Select text drawing tool 4. Place mouse pointer at the 4.00" x 4.00" grid point. 5. Left click and type "Test". 6. Notice that text position on bottom of screen is 4.00/3.74 7. Select the "selection" tool 8. Select the text to move it. 9. Try to put back at the 4.00" x 4.00" grid point: it can not be done. If you put the lower left anchor right at 4.00" x 4.00", the text position at the bottom of the screen says 4.00/3.72 _which_is_different_ than the coordinates when I first placed the text. This makes it difficult to draw/edit a lot of aligned text.
Set to new and change the target.
I can reproduce the bug. Please have a look.
