Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 76815
OOo hangs temporarily
Last modified: 2007-09-04 14:48:38 UTC
Frequently , and regularly , the program will just go to sleep - will lock up . After quite a few seconds it will then wake up and respond to the mouse .
Funny... I never experienced that. But I don't use Calc that often, too !!!
I have been having this problem occurring a lot . I am doing a lot of modification of a spreadsheet - selecting cells , editing cells etc. . The spreadsheet has 16 worksheets - ie. covers a year's worth of expenditure and income - so is fairly complex . It seems like a frequent back up process operating but is obviously not - there is no indication of this occurring . This leaves a task issue as a possible cause - ie. a task going to sleep - being locked up temporarily by another process - such as temporary priority inversion . If a synchronous architecture is used then task problems are not unusual - by the nature of the structure they are designed into the structure and they have to be worked around . The program may be being woken up by some sort of watchdog process . I should have added with these reports - I am working on a .xls file imported from Excel .
There are 2 factors that may be related to this :- 1) that the file was a large - 983KB+ - file . 2) that it was imported from Excel .xls format .
kim_lyon, please attach the file. Also specify if this problem happens with other files.
I believe I know that problem. @kim_lyon: do those hangs still happen when 'Tools > Cell Contents > AutoCalculate' is unchecked?
If no response is given I have to close this Issue as invalid. Frank
Cannot reproduce, no bugdoc attached even after asking for it and no response for about six weeks. Closed worksforme. Frank
