Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 76920
Remove duplicate "hot keys" for menus
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:41:16 UTC
NOTE: This bug was originally reported here - https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=172814 Tested Build: Downloaded OOo_2.2.0_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_en-US.tar.gz package from: http://openoffice.bouncer.osuosl.org/?product=OpenOffice.org&os=linuxintelwjre&lang=en-US&version=2.2.0 Problem - There are many menus in OpenOffice that have duplicate keys that are "hot keys" within the menu. This goes against most user interface guidelines and is very frustrating for users who use the keyboard commonly to navigate menus. For example: In all, the File Menu - the letter "D" activates both the "Export as PDF" and "Send" In Impress, the Insert menu - the letter "U" activates both the "Duplicate Slide" and "Picture" menu items. It is likely easy enough to review the menu structure in the resources for the app to find these duplicates, so I won't try to highlight all of them.
Confirming with 2.3m211 on WinXP - as described.
TM->requirements: one for you !
These are essentially all the same bug: PR 42780, PR 72271, PR 92862, PR 62846, and PR 76920. It is disappointing for those of us used to using the keyboard that none of them have been addressed in at least 4 years :-(
bangerth, could you, please, file new issue (named like Meta issue for duplicate hot- keys) and make it dependant on issues you specified (include kpalagin in CC)? Here is another one for your list - http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=63771
Sure. This is now PR 100745.
