Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 77668
Empty page when fontwork too far to right
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:13:48 UTC
When printing a Calc sheet with a fontwork element that is about an inch to the left of the right-hand edge of the page, a second, empty page is printed. If the right-hand edge of the fontwork element is moved to the left in any way (e.g. by reducing the number of characters, moving the entire element to the left or reducing the size of the element), the empty page is not printed. The same thing happens in the PDF function and page preview. It doesn't help to select "Suppress output of empty pages". See attached example (the blue fontwork element). The fontwork element is definitely completely on the first page by far. It took quite a bit of testing to determine that the problem is the fontwork element.
Created attachment 45306 [details] ods file that prints an empty page due to fontwork
Confirming in OOo 2.2.1 (OpenSUSE 10.2) - as described.
Confirming with 2.3m216 on WinXP - print preview shows content-free second page with attached file. Removing blue font-work object eliminates that page.
Hi Niklas, please have a look at this one. Frank
Any headway on this? Our users call us (the helpdesk) about this bug every once in a while, forgetting that it is a known problem and how they can work around it. Most recently the problem was reported as, "I printed my Calc file and got 10 pages instead of 5, half of them empty." Then I have to remember to ask if they have a fontwork element in it. The answer is usually yes. Thanks for any progress you can report.
It seems that this problem no longer occurs in 3.0.
