'Allowed poster' cannot post without moderation
Last modified: 2008-11-06 13:35:39 UTC
MarConDiscuss@marketing.openoffice.org is flagged as 'Private' and 'Allowed Posters'. floeff@openoffice.org is in the list of 'Allowed Posters' but I still have to moderate his emails.
Created attachment 45417 [details] Example of moderation request
support, would you be able to look into this? thanks louis
Hi, Thank you for contacting CollabNet customer support. Will initiate the research based on the provided details & provide you an update as soon as we have adequate information. Regards, Jeeva Support Operations
Hi, The reason for the user not able to bypass the moderation in MarconDiscuss@marketing.openoffice.org is that his email id - floeff@openoffice.org is not listed in ooposters@openoffice.org list. In the 'allowed-posters' type mailing list only the users who are listed in 'ooposters@openoffice.org' can post to the mailing list bypassing the moderation. I do see that the user's email id floeff@openoffice.org is available in the 'allowed posters' of MarConDiscuss@marketing.openoffice.org mailing list. However, the 'allowed posters' can post bypassing the moderation only in a 'discuss' type mailing list & in all other [except 'unmoderated'] mailing lists their posts will be moderated. Hence this is an expected behavior and if you want the mails sent by the user floeff to bypass moderation in any of the mailing lists [of type 'allowed-posters'] then you can add his email id to the ooposters@openoffice.org list, which is available in 'www' project. I am marking this as invalid, as the functionality is working as designed. Please feel free to ask for a reopen if you require further clarification. Regards, Jeeva Support Operations
It seems there is a misunderstandig about lists of type "allowed-posters". This is different from ooposters. Lists of type "allowed-posters" should distribute messages from people added to the specific group of allowed-posters without moderation independent of the subscription status. Please see this link for a list of "allowed-posters" for the list MarConDiscuss@marketing http://marketing.openoffice.org/servlets/MailingListMembers?list=MarConDiscuss&group=Allowed+Posters John, you might want to reopen the issue if the problem persists.
Please refer to http://www.openoffice.org/scdocs/ProjectOwnerMailingLists. Can you confirm my understanding is correct. List type "Unmoderated" - anything goes. List type "Moderated" - nothing goes unless moderated. List type "Discuss" - postings are always allowed from subscribers; non-subscribers are always moderated - unless they are on the allowed posters list. Non-subscribers who are moderated successfully are automatically added to 'allowed-posters' list (is this true?). The help system doesn't describe List type "Allowed Posters" (I have filed http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=77834 about this) but if I understand you correctly: List type "Allowed-posters" - this type only accepts postings from people on the 'allowed posters' list of the mailing list ooposters@openoffice.org in project www. Can you confirm this is correct? It sounds a bit strange to me :-)
Hi, You got most of them right except few: List type 'Discuss' - postings are always allowed from subscribers; non-subscribers are always moderated - unless they are on the allowed posters list. Non subscribers who are moderated successfully are *not* automatically added to 'allowed-posters' list. List type 'Allowed-Posters' - this type accept postings only from people on the '*subscribers*' list of the mailing list ooposters@openoffice.org in project www. Postings from others [project members/subscribers/non-subscribers/allowed posters in the list] are always moderated. Let me know if this explains. Regards, Jeeva Support Operations
Hi, I am closing this for now. Let me know if you have further questions. Regards, Jeeva Support Operations
