Delete key appears to erase/delete more than requested text: you must refresh
screen after every hit on delete key to follow changes exactly

for example I have the words:
I have to try this again| (vertical line is cursor)
When I hit the delete key ONCE I get the following:
I have to try this aga  |
(two characters appear to have been deleted and two spaces width appears to
exist before cursor)
I have to refresh screen to have "i" after "again" reappear as I only hit delete
key once.
