Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 7855
Unable to create requested number of columns in a table.
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
(Reported by Caroline Gacanja and Tony Nguyen, 09/23/02) We were working on a PC running Windows 2000 and Open Office version 1.0.1 Steps for reproduction: 1. Open a new document in OpenOffice Writer. 2. From the menu bar, click on Insert and then select Table. 3. For the column variable, enter 8192 in the text box. Leave the Row variable with the value 2. 4. Hit enter or click OK. Result: A table with 1 column and 2 rows is created in the document.
The reason for entering 8192 in column variable is because that is the largest number the variable lets us enter. The word processor, therefore, accepts an input value it does not seem to handle well.
Thank you for using and supporting OOo. The table feature in OOo is being redesigned.
Reassigned to MRU
MRU->DVO: o.k., we can discuss about the sense of inserting a 8000-column table into a Writer document... But one thing looks curious: the last column seems to have a size of about 2cm. all the others share the rest of the page width.

According to the OpenOffice.org roadmap (http://tools.openoffice.org/releases) this issue was retargeted to OOo Later.
