Chart with trend line in excel file
Comment 5 jitin_21 2007-07-26 17:16:57 UTC
In MSOffice we can create a Trend line in a graph or can put formula relating
to that trend line which is not possible in OOo.
I am attaching two files, in one file there is a screenshot of chart creation
in excel and other one is a excel file in which i have created a chart with
trend line with formula on it.
Comment 6 Rainer Bielefeld 2007-07-27 06:50:58 UTC
If I understand the problem correctly the criticism point that the current OOo
chart module only can "visualize" the contents of a table with x/y data by
showing a line, connecting the data points.
The required feature seems to be that char should be able
- to generate a formula showing an approximation to the curve for the
data points and to show the graph of that equation in the x-y-chart
- to show the graph of a manually created function 'Y=F(x)' the x-y-chart

So the reported requirement seems to be more or less a DUP of Issue 5289, Issue
5085, Issue 7998, Issue 13079, Issue 73490. Currently I can not see any
requirement in this issue here that would not be covered by the listed issues.

jitin_21, do you agree?
Comment 7 jitin_21 2007-07-27 07:30:23 UTC
Ya i agree, and my main issue is to resolve this weather its already
highlighted by others to the Open Office Team.

One more thing that there is a quite difference between linear line in the
chart when we import file from excel to Calc.

Hope it will get resolved soon in the upcoming dev version 2.3

@jitin_21:
I understand that this issue might be a really big problem for YOU, but
currently this is definitively not P2, pls. see. priority guidelines!
For first a VOTE (here or in the listed related issues) might be the first step
to accent the importance of this feature.

Comment 10 IngridvdM 2007-08-02 18:00:19 UTC
This on is duplicate to issue 7998.
The related issue 78442 is fixed for OOo 2.3.
