Description mhrichter 2007-08-25 00:19:35 UTC
If I have a document open but the window is minimized, it is virtually invisible
on my desktop. If I open it a second time, there is no indication whatsoever
that the document is already open, and the minimized window is only visible on
the taskbar in the workspace where it resides. It is completely invisible from
any of the other workspaces

It would be really nice if the writer would restore the window of a document
that is already open if I try to open it a second time from anywhere else, even
from within another writer window. An alternative would be to flash a frame on
the taskbar, regardless of which workspace the minimized window is in.

To reproduce:

1. Open a document in the writer.
2. Minimize the window.
3. Switch to a different desktop frame (optional).
4. Open the document again.

There is no response at all, except that the document does not open. I used
gnome-open from a command line window, nautilus file browser, even another
writer window with a new document.

I am running CentOS 5.0, Linux kernel 2.6.18-8.1.8 with NTFS support, Gnome
desktop manager version 2.1.16 with five workspaces.

Thanks.

Framework issue.

@ mhrichter: OOo 2.04. is pretty outdated. Can you reproduce this behavior in a
more recent version? It would be very helpful if you would try the new developer
snapshot OOGm2 what will be the upcomming OOo 2.3 version.

I tested this in OO 2.2.1 and it appears to be fixed there.

Thanks for your assistance.

Thank you for using OOo.
