Description Unknown 2002-10-07 16:55:06 UTC
Copy a few cells from a spreadsheet.
Create a new spreadsheet and select entire spread sheet.
Paste into spreadsheet and application becomes inaccessible and uses up all
available memory. All OpenOffice applications become inaccessible.

This could and will not be fixed. It is not really possible to
determine if there is enough space for an operation. Especially on
multiuser operating systems you can't know how many memory is
available after an operation. So the only way to prevent this would be
to set a limit for the amount of memory which could be used by an
operation. But where to set this limit. What is a big machine and what
is a small one? What if I upgrade my system? => not fixable
Comment 2 oc 2003-08-08 11:54:34 UTC
Closed because not fixable
Comment 3 pfortin 2004-11-23 15:02:48 UTC
I just triggered this issue and barely avoided a reboot by managing to find the
[os]calc process and killing it... sadly, this also killed a half-dozen
[os]writer documents I was working on... :P

Suggestion: provide a Cancel dialog on any action which has been running for
more than some period of time (user definable would be nice).
