Description nralph 2007-10-27 17:35:24 UTC
I have a new Mac with OSX 10.4.10., X11. I installed OpenOffice and everything
works except Base. Trying to open or configure a table results in an error: "The
Selected JRE is Defective". The selected JRE is version 1.5.0-07 from Apple
Computer, Inc. which appears have come loaded with 10.4.10. I've looked all over
Apple's site to find a newer JRE with now result. Ive tried installing an older
JRE (1.4) but the OS won't allow it. Should I un and reinstall 1.5.0-07 or is
there something else going on?

Currently the only known Java Issues are with Mac OS X 10.5 aka Leopard.

For Mac OS X 10.4.10 OpenOffice.org 2.3.0 X11 or 2.2.1 are recommended and both
2.3.0 and 2.2.1 don't show the described behaviour on my Mac with Intel CoreDuo
Processor.

Even the latest Aqua Milestone 233 I compiled myself doesn't show the described
error message when opening and a base document.

In order to accept the issue we need more informations from the reporter about
his configuration and which OpenOffice.org version he downloaded and which
processor Intel or PowerPC he has in his Mac.

The reporte should also check his Java Environment.

Added macport on CC

The current issue about Java in Leopard, are IMHO fixed, but not integrated.

The problem is caused by the change Apple did for the jvm , with "Apple
Computer, Inc." changed in "Apple , Inc" in Leopard.

A final code review should be done tomorrow, or at least during the week,
because some other proposed changes can affect all versions.

The cws is expected to be accepted and integrated soon. Maybe in m236 or m237 if
nothing goes wrong

FYI, I even do provide *unofficial and hacked* snapshots.
