Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 83681
MYOB ODBC
Last modified: 2008-09-01 15:26:44 UTC
Can anybody help? OO Base is crashing while trying to use a MYOB database. MYOB is a very common accounting package for small to medium sized business in Australia, and somewhat common overseas ( US & Canada ) To access it's database, an ODBC driver can be installed. ( MYOB ODBC ver7.0 now) This works fine with MS Query and MS Access, but OO Base 2.3 often crashes, and then the error report tool crashes too. It especially has problems loading the tables, or when creating queries. Should this be posted on a different site for bug fixes? Regards Paul
See Forum, somebody has suggested that this is the same as http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=82076 is it?
Plesetest it with version 2.3.1
Tried ver 2.3.1 Same result. The "test ODBC connection" is successful, but when trying to view the tables it locks up, and then the reporting tool locks up. Is any body able to confirm this problem?
What do you mean with "locks up"?
Hi, Locks up = It does not respond, the XP window title bar says "not responding". By chance I left OO Base running and went to lunch. When I got back it had eventually showed the MYOB ODBC table contents, but then stopped responding again when trying to view the tables. Ver 2.0 is a bit more forgiving, but in the end they both eventually stop responding and I had to end the soffice process in task mananger. MSQuery in Excel and ACCESS are instant and crash proof so far. I have contacted the support people at MYOB and this is what they have come back with... " The interaction between OO and MYOB may be different as the ODBC driver is not just providing access to a relational database it is actually building a view. The MYOB datafile is not a relational database but a flat file c-tree database. It is the MYOB ODBC driver which then provides the MYOB datafile in a relational view, so depending on the tasks OO is performing, may be impacted by this aspect." I suspect that OO Base and the MYOB ODBC driver are not totally compatible, and it takes a very very long time to sort itself out.... Hope this helps. The MYOB software is downloadable from www.myob.com if the OO software engineers need to test it...
does this problem still occure in a current version?
