Description schaber 2007-12-12 15:42:40 UTC
When a cell in a table contains rotated text, the text is sometimes scrambled.
Sometimes, it it is split, or the characters are in a the wrong order (in the
sample Any becomes nA and y), and sometimes the text is aligned at the top of
the cell, although the align middle option is selected. Moving the left or right
cell border a little in either direction helps, but after reopening the file,
you get the same result.

This is really annoying, since in big document you cannot fix all tables
everytime when you need to make changes and print/export the document.

MRU->FME: the rotated text in the table is initially formatted wrongly. When
selecting this text, removing the rotation attribute and undoing the action the
text looks good.
Maybe this is the same problem as in issue 71232, so please have a look. Thanks!

Any news about this issue?
Comment 4 rrandall 2008-09-07 02:14:03 UTC
When creating a document using OpenOffice 3 Beta 2 and saving it as a Microsoft
Word 97/2000/XP doc file, any text placed in a table and rotated 90 degrees
(“Format”, “Character”, “Position”, “90 degrees”) is re-formatted to "normal"
when the document is opened in MS Word 2003. Similarly, upon re-opening the
document in OpenOffice 3, the rotation of the text is lost.

Could you set a target milestone for a fix for this issue, please?
Comment 6 frank.meies 2008-12-05 16:01:17 UTC
Well, this issue has a target (OOo later) although this is not a very specific
one. I'm sorry,
but right now I cannot give you a better answer.

Hi!

Any chance to get this fixed for 3.1?
Comment 8 rrandall 2009-04-15 18:09:33 UTC
I just checked this feature in OOo 3.1 RC1. It appears that an effort was made
to correct this issue, but it still doesn't function properly. Particularly when
there are multiple Carriage Returns in the 90 degree text in a table.

Could you at least define a specific target milestone? The issue is known over
one and a half year now, and it is a basic one (happens with native open office
documents, not only with Word documents). I do not want to go back to Word & Co.

Maybe at least a target milestone (3.3) to the second anniversary of this issue?
Comment 14 schaber 2010-05-16 14:18:53 UTC
Any chance to get this done in 3.3?
Comment 15 schaber 2010-09-21 22:12:16 UTC
Any chance to get this fixed ever?
Comment 16 Sue Martin 2015-04-19 21:33:57 UTC
Please try to fix this and save people like me (who had to learn the hard way) oodles of time and energy. I have spent all my spare time during the last week and a half trying to make this work, and getting incredibly frustrated in the process, thinking that I was missing something or doing something wrong. I didn't expect there to be an unresolved issue - especially now that I see it has been known about for some time.

My inquiries have also wasted the time of some kind and helpful people trying to solve my problems for me, to no avail.

If you don't plan to fix it, will you please add to the "help" info. the fact that changing the text orientation in part of a table is not possible?
