When I try to open a document in Microsoft Office Word, it has lost vital parts 
of its formatting, rendering OpenOffice in effect useless to me as I work with 
texts that have to be opened by others using Word and that I often receive from 
Word users to alter.

I could send you an example if I could figure out how to attach a file. :-)
