Description pantherflaredevcom 2008-01-11 04:04:22 UTC
I had a large document that took days to lay out. When I went to print, it
would print out a page or two correctly, then half-way down some pages it would
stop rendering and I'd get all white. Later in the document, one or two pages
would come through correctly, while others might show up all white.

I finally narrowed it down to pages with several images on it. Being that
there's no good way to put a different full-page image in the background per
page (really infuriating, by the way) while maintaining margins, I have to
insert a frame for each page and maximize it, put an image there, then create
another frame above it to create a text region similar to where margins would
be. Often, I'll create several frames with different images at different
transparency levels all floating above this background frame.

The pages that failed always had a frame with a large background image, several
floating images in other frames, and text inside them or inside the full-page
frame. It would render most of the page until it finished the last line of one
of the floating pictures, then the rest of the page would be blank.

I had to spend three days converting the doc by hand to MS Word, because both
Print and Export to PDF features failed exactly the same way. Printing one page
at a time or in bulk had the same behavior.

Thanks.

Changed summary to be more accurate. The program did not fail, only produced
incorrect (blank) pages. --JH

Sounds strange, does the problem occur only with one file or also with another
one which you can provide to evaluate.
My first hint would be an printer driver update.

Can you post a small document that demonstrates this problems?

Please feel free to reopen this issue if you find out that the problem still
exists in the latest release of OOo and if you can provide requested additional
information.
