Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 85542
Installation dialogs show Java-setup info ??
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:24:38 UTC
OOH680m4 was submitted without JRE. However, the installation dialogs were with title Java Setup etc. I'll attach an odt with screenshots.
Created attachment 51131 [details] Document with screenshots, showing Java-Setup for OOH680m4 without JRE
To support the new GUI installer for Linux and Solaris it has been decided to build the developer snapshots always with the bundled JRE. So also Windows builds come along with Java now. The final OOo builds will be with and without Java as before.
Well, no problem for me. Just - that http://download.openoffice.org/680/ says *without* JRE - that some others might want to choose to install without?
Well, that's not an 'Installation' problem :-) @ JA: Please adjust the mentiond website accordingly "- that some others might want to choose to install without?" Good point. But providing OOo-dev build with and without Java will flood our download servers someday. That has to be decided by someone else.
Are QA engineers and volunteers aware that they now can remove an older Java directory regularly, after installing a dev-build?
Currently OOo-Dev builds are not built with a bundled JRE. Having both might be too much regarding disk space on our mirrors. I could initiate such a change (to have OOo-Dev_wJRE builds as the only option available in future) if wanted.
Hi ja, Now you puzzle me :-) - my first comment: - the download page says without JRE - during installation Java items are mentioned - 'of' (Thu Jan 24 12:01:37 +0000 2008) says: "it has been decided to build the developer snapshots always with the bundled JRE" - now you say : "Currently OOo-Dev builds are not built with a bundled JRE"
Installation of 680_m5 didn't come up with Java-setup grapics. I 'll see what m6 brings.
Also the installation of 680_m6 didn't come up with Java-setup grapics. So must have been a slip of ... Set to fixed
