I have recently installed 2.4.0 RC1 (over 2.2.1), for some tests.
It is really slower than previous versions, this can become unacceptable for heavy 
users. I use Intel dual core  processor at 2.13GHz and 2GB of RAM.
Example:

Open a new Writer document. Write a word. Right-click on it : about 1.5 second 
before the contextual menu appears.

Add an image. On the selected image, click-right : about 3 seconds before the 
contextual menu appears. Time enough to do other things because you don't see any 
change.

Starting a macro from an add-on needs also 0.2 to 0.5 sec.

Really, you should investigate, it's a nuisance.

Did you install some extensions ? In that case it is probably a duplicate of 
issue 84550.

Returns to normal if I un-install my two old addons histmanager and Multipages, both 
are Basic macros.
Same problem as Issue 84550.
