Description mmelchior 2002-10-23 13:23:31 UTC
The Bibliography database editor does not start when its database reference
is to a database no longuer mentioned in the data sources. Only after
re-introduction of that datatase name, it is possible to use the Bibliography
database editor to change the biblio database to another one.

It would avoid problems when the Bibliography database editor would start without
a database if it cannot find one. Then the new database can be assigned even after
removing the old one.

User summary:
Bibliography database editor not starting

Duplicated on Win NT 4.0 SP6a, OOo 643.

Matthijs, perhaps an error message would be appropiate.

Your last comment was confusing to me, since editing the data sources
is handled via Tools->Data Sources
Comment 2 mmelchior 2002-10-25 22:11:05 UTC
Via Tools->Data Sources, the various data sources are made known to
OOo. You can have more than one bibliography database there.

The choise which bibliography database is in use is made via
Tools->Bibliography Database[Edit->Data Source] which is only
available when the bibliography database editor finds a valid
database to start with.

I have seen a person who removed the default database before
entering our new, shared, database. Then he was not able to assign
this new database for use without first recreating something called
"Bibliography".

An error message may be appropriate as well, provided it explicitly
states the name of the bibliography database that cannot be found.

I do not want to qualify this as an enhancement, it is a bug when
a request to start the bibliography database editor is ignored without
any indication why. Please change it back!

Enhancement is BHs part.
Comment 6 bettina.haberer 2003-04-14 14:30:52 UTC
At least we need a message at trying to start the database editor
after deleting the data source. I take it to approval.
Comment 7 michael.bemmer 2003-05-06 15:50:49 UTC
Too late for beta2, re-targeted to 1.1 RC.
Comment 8 bettina.haberer 2003-05-13 13:01:24 UTC

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
