Description nontivelngpks 2008-03-03 19:41:01 UTC
OOo appear on more and more platforms, but one can't get other/new language
packs easily as they're specifically targeted only for Win, Mac and Linux.

I'd like to see OS neutral language packages not tied to a specific installer,
similar to Mozillas .xpi-additions language packages perhaps.

It would be most welcome to us that want to use several languages that we'd get
ONE OS neutral way to install language packs and not several installers tied to
each specific OS. It would also mean that OOo would only have to provide 1 small
package for each additional language. Everyone could use the same files and OOo
would load and use the language packs itself.

mvh / MfG / Wkr
Swedish / Deutsch / <English>
Currently "locked in" on English menus due to native installers, though there
are translations available for the other two languages I read/speak as well and
would like to use in conversations and education when I discuss/explain/promote
OOo's features.

Would be nice to have. We should really think about this.

I remember Shaun McDonald proposal about that sometimes ago.

Such feature would save zillions MB of storage ..
