Description dyrcona 2008-03-28 15:15:36 UTC
Per Apple Human Interface Guidelines
(http://developer.apple.com/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/OSXHIGuidelines/XHIGMenus/chapter_17_section_4.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP30000356-TPXREF105)
the menu item on the File menu that is now called "Recent Documents" should be
renamed to "Open Recent" on Mac OS X.

Also, while it is not specified in the guidelines, typical Mac OS X applications
do not number the document names in the list, will hold up to the 10 most recent
documents, and provide a "Clear Menu" item after a separator at the bottom of
the menu. The last item obviously clears the menu of documents.

I'd be happy to work on this if told where to look in the code.

Also, Xcode and several other Mac OS X apps (all of them?), allow the user to
configure the number of items in the Open Recent submenu. It is usually not
exposed in the GUI preferences, but can be set with the defaults editor:

defaults write com.apple.Xcode NSRecentDocumentsLimit 25

It would be good if the feature also supported that.
