Description prabahy 2008-03-31 18:05:10 UTC
It appears that http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/magnet.html has not been
updated since OOo 2.1. I was just trying to get OOo 2.4, but was unable to find
a link there.
By modifying the url, I was able to find metalinks up through 2.3.1. These can
be found at http://download.packages.ro/metalink/openoffice/. I am willing to
make a new metalink file for 2.4, but don't know how to update both the host of
the metalinks (download.packages.ro) or the link (distribution.openoffice.org).

Prab,
I can upload this page or get even more efficient and give you access to maintain the magnet page. The
host of he metalinks can be directly contacted, I'd imagine, by pinging the .ro page.

I just looked around packages.ro, but couldn't find a way to contact the
operator. It looks like he use an automated piece of software called "simba" to
generate the metalink. He has the source code up, but I have never programed or
used Perl.

Have the mirrors changed much since v2.3.1? If not, I can copy the list of
mirrors from the old metalink to a new metalink.

Also thanks for uploading the old one, but it needs to be a plain .metalink.
Right now it is a .metalink.html. The correct date is in the HTML source, but it
is hard to extract.

Made a magnet link for 2.4 Window

magnet:?xt=urn:kzhash:5f847854f3176144389032c0eeab5e1bdde5fbacd0e2e14a0f7b9b687cc4aa2208d240b4&xt=urn:sha1:05ad21ad7053d288ca4a3d6c02677fbb852d86c2&xt=urn:bitprint:AWWSDLLQKPJIRSSKHVWAEZ37XOCS3BWC.UK6UOH7SZRS76RK7CXS54V74RVNQ4YLMF32YGSI&dn=OOo_2.4.0_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe&xs=http://openoffice.mirrors.pair.com/ftp/stable/2.4.0/OOo_2.4.0_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe

I will do the other versions soon.
(I wouldn't mind access to the magnet page)
Comment 6 lsuarezpotts 2008-04-25 21:58:32 UTC
let me give you access. Done. But to post material, please ensure that you protect your IP and either
use the PDL or sign the SCA.

See http://contributing.openoffice.org/programming.html

As well, as we use CVS and SSH2, you need to use those those technologies. See
http://www.openoffice.org/scdocs/ddSSHGuide.html. I have to upload your ssh2 key, and that page
gives instructions.

Please file a new issue per instructions and I'll deal with this expeditiously....

Sorry I never got time to follow the steps to correct the issue. As much as I
would like to support Metalinks, I feel it is in the best interest of end users
to remove the link to http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/magnet.html from
http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/. Right now people using those links will
get a severely outdated version of OpenOffice.

Hello again,
I noticed that this bug is still open and that the metalink page is still out
of date. http://openoffice.mirrorbrain.org/stable/3.1.0/ has some excellent
automatically generated metalinks for open office. Perhaps, the metalink page
could be changed just to point to that page?
Comment 9 lsuarezpotts 2009-05-28 16:56:38 UTC
Hi
Will follow suggestion and remove the link--after checking with mirrors group.

Comment 10 albryan 2009-05-31 17:30:34 UTC
Official metalinks are indeed at http://openoffice.mirrorbrain.org/stable/3.1.0/

AFAIK MirrorBrain is replacing Bouncer (in charge of the mirrors), so all
downloads will be metalink capable once that switch finally happens. It will all
be automated, so http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/magnet.html will not
need to be updated for each new version that comes out.

I don't have a problem with the page being removed. It would be nice if there
could still be a link to metalink somewhere though :)
