Description qu9542 2008-04-07 17:23:02 UTC
How to Repeat:
Have a external Harddisk drive with Windows Compressed NTF format (formatted
under Windows XP).
In Windows XP, create a *.odt file in that drive.
Connect this drive to Ubuntu Machine, and open the same *.odt file, modify it
and save it.
You will get the following error message:
"General error. General Input/Output error."...

I am not sure this problem is due to OpenOffice or Ubuntu system. But that kind
of error can be annoying!

Workaround:
I have to uncompress the NTF drive, then everything is OK.

Framework issue.
Comment 2 Olaf Felka 2008-04-08 09:06:06 UTC
@ qu9542: Ubuntu 8.04 supports writing on compressed NTF drives? If your OS
doesn't support that OOo can't write to this file system.

TM->qu9542: please check, if other apps can save to that drive when using Ubuntu
or just do a touch <filename> on that drive. Might be that Ubuntu can't handle
that NTF-version.

adding mci to CC

Since Ubuntu7.04 the needed package is included into the default installation of
Ubuntu (http://wiki.ubuntu-forum.de/index.php/NTFS)...
Maybe ntfs-3g needs some configuration...?!?
I don't know this since I don't use ntfs-3g (http://ntfs3g.org/)
