Description Rainer Bielefeld 2008-04-19 07:15:50 UTC
I checked with "3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version English UI WIN XP: [Dev-300m7
(Build9293)]" and saw that OOo will crash when I try to install tool "Multipages".

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to <http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=87718>
2. Select "Multipages"
3. download Version 1.1de "MultiPages1.1_de.zip" and extract the zip file
   (due to installation instructions)
4. Start OOo 3.0 (with a WRITER document)
5. Menu 'Tools -> Extension Manager -> My extensions <Add>
6. search for "MultiPages.zip" from extracted "MultiPages1.1_de.zip" and select
   it for installation
   expected: extension should be installed
actual: avter a shor moment (5mm progress bar) installation will be
terminated with message box "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library -
           Runtime Error! Program: C:\OOo-dev 3.0\program\soffice.bin
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way. Please contact the applications support ...

Installation of SVG import ("svg-import-1.2.2.oxt") worked fine

Comment 3 Rainer Bielefeld 2008-04-19 16:01:15 UTC
I was not able to reproduce that problem on an other PC with a fresh
installation of "3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [Dev-300m7
(Build9293)]" (no earlier 3.0 versions have been installed) and was NOT able to
reproduce the crash, installation worked fine.

On the other PC I used for my first test also installation of "multipages_en"
causes a crash.
Comment 4 Rainer Bielefeld 2008-04-20 11:46:21 UTC
Still a problem with "3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version English UI WIN XP:
[Dev-300m9 (Build9295)]". I Uninstalled m7 and deleted all 3.0 files from my
"Programme" an my "Anwendungsdaten" folder.

This issue is most likely a dupe to issue 88344 - and a whole bunch of others.
It should be fixed in a DOV300m9.
Comment 6 Rainer Bielefeld 2008-04-21 11:50:16 UTC
Definitively not fixed (for me) with m9, I will check next one
Comment 7 joerg.skottke 2008-04-21 12:14:43 UTC
If you say it's not good in m9 then i'll have a thorough look now.
Comment 8 joerg.skottke 2008-04-21 12:26:25 UTC
Confirmed on Windows XP.

This is probably caused by the C++ runtime library for the compiler the
extension was built with, which is not included in the extension.

Developers usually have the C++ libs on their system (it comes with the
compiler), others don't have it.

Forwarding issue.
Comment 9 joerg.skottke 2008-04-21 12:28:30 UTC
Just a note: The affected program is soffice.bin, not unopkg and there is a
crash after the warning message has been issued.

Whatever happens, we should not crash.
Comment 10 Stephan Bergmann 2008-04-22 08:46:50 UTC
@rainerbielefeld: The bad design of the sourceforge site does not allow me to
download the extension. Please make it available (best by attaching it to this
issue, if rights permit).

jsk: "This is probably caused by the C++ runtime library for the compiler the
extension was built with, which is not included in the extension." The
MultiPages.zip extension contained in the attached Multipages1.1_en.zip does not
contain any (C++) DLLs, just .xba, .xcu etc.

most probably a duplicate of issue 88671
