In the Normal view of a slide,
click context menu Slide> Slide layout 
-> nothing happens, because the slide layout already is present.

This is superfluous and it causes confusion for the user: which menu to choose?
(Probably a remnant from 1.x ?)

In Notes / Handout / Slide sorter the menu entry does not activate the Normal
view ...

Yes I am. In Notesview, Handout, Slidesorter/Context menu there is no entry
Normal view. the menu entry View/Normal works as desired.

Then what should the context menu Slide> Slide layout lead to ??

Turns out that Slide> Slide layout opens the Task pane (View|Taks pane) when
that one is closed. But not necessary at the slide layout section.
Ugly ..
