Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 88940
Writer initially ignores "Next style" property for endnote style when activating header
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
If a document contains more than one endnote page, Writer doesn't apply the page style defined in the "next style" property of the endnote page style to any following page. Instead, the page style defined in the "Footnote settings" section is assigned to any page. Example: 1. Create a new document 2. Create a new page style called "Endnote - Following" 3. Edit the page style "Endnote" and set the "Next style" property to "Endnote - Following" 4. Add so many endnotes to the document, that at least one page-break is automatically inserted within the notes After those steps you can see, that the style "Endnote" is applied to every endnote-page instead of only the first page.

I cannot reproduce the problem, see my attached sample, which was created exactly following your description. Please provide your sample document, so that we can see what you did differently to get this bug. Thanks! Feel free to reopen issue when document can be provided.

Hmm. I can't understand this, because this did not work for me before. Nevertheless your document just "works" unless you enable a heading for "Endnote". If you do so, Writer ignores the "next style"-property (see attachment).

Now I do not understand... When I open your modified version of the document, "Endnote follow" is correctly applied... or did I miss a certain thing???
Huh? Writer seems to apply it correctly if you restart it. Well, when I now open my modified document, everything works fine: The first page has got the style "Endnote" and the second one "Endnote follow" (even with heading enabled for the first page). If you now disable the heading, Writer also assigns the style "Endnote" to the second page. Now, when you save the file and re-open it, everything is set correctly until you re-enable the heading for the first page. Seems strange. Can you reproduce this?
Yes, now I can reproduce the problem. This seems a formatting problem in Writer when the page style properties have changed. MRU->AMA: take my attachment. You can see that both endnote pages have different page style. If you now enable the header in page style "Endnote", you will see, that the "Next style" seems to be ignored now. Will correct itself after saving and reopening the document.
