Readme Updates for OOo3 Final
Comment 1 Olaf Felka 2008-05-22 14:31:26 UTC
In the readme you point the user to " Main user forum: discuss@openoffice.org
*easy way to lurk on discussions* (heavy traffic) ". I don't think that this is
the main user forum. The users discuss at users@openoffice.org. There are lots
of native language forums.
Comment 2 Olaf Felka 2008-05-22 14:35:05 UTC
adding url
Comment 3 Uwe Fischer 2008-05-22 14:58:08 UTC
"users" list should be for getting help
"discuss" list should be for discussions about OOo topics
unfortunately, many mails on the users list discuss things, which may scare away
many readers because of endless off-topic discussions ...

I do some changes in the deb part

Comment 5 frank.thomas.peters 2008-05-28 10:41:37 UTC
Thanks, Mechtilde.

I excluded the RPM/DEB installation sections from the readme to
not bloat it unnecessarily.

I think, those instructions are valid and important but should
be on the wiki or a setup guide for 3.0 instead of the readme
Comment 6 frank.thomas.peters 2008-05-28 15:08:17 UTC
fixed
Comment 7 frank.thomas.peters 2008-05-28 15:09:00 UTC
reassign
Comment 8 Olaf Felka 2008-05-28 15:20:10 UTC
@ ufi: Please have a look here: http://www.openoffice.org/mail_list.html:
"users@openoffice.org
For questions relating to the use of OpenOffice.org (the application). A very
popular and effective list. This list is in English. For non-English help
resources, see the "Native-Lang" project lists below."
"discuss@openoffice.org
This list is intended for discussions on OpenOffice.org and Open Source."
So please exchange the hint to the according mailing list. We shouldn't abuse
the discuss mailing list and force the new users to be off topic in that list.
Comment 9 Olaf Felka 2008-05-28 15:23:09 UTC
We also can point the new users to http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/
So please change the readme accordingly.
Comment 10 frank.thomas.peters 2008-05-28 15:27:35 UTC
