Description wdonne 2008-05-22 09:32:49 UTC
In File->Properties->Description there is a field called "Keywords". The
complete contents of that field is saved in a single meta:keyword element, while
the ODF specification says that one such element should be used per keyword.
Either the line should be tokenized or keywords should be presented in a
different way.

To an end-user this issue probably doesn't mean much. For a CMS, however, this
may be very relevant, because it may use the keywords for document management
purposes.

Reassigned to ES.
Comment 2 eric.savary 2008-05-26 16:26:46 UTC
@AMA: please have a look.
Comment 3 mst.ooo 2008-05-27 17:10:27 UTC
this is another one of these bugs that i fixed in the reimplementation of
meta.xml handling in CWS custommeta without even noticing it :)

fixed in 3.0 beta. (DEV300m1, actually)

you can assign the issue to mst if you like.
Comment 4 mst.ooo 2008-05-27 17:12:33 UTC
oh, btw: the line in the dialog is tokenized on commas, and nothing else
(specifically, not on white space).
Comment 5 wdonne 2008-05-27 17:24:36 UTC
The way the line is tokenized doesn't seem to be documented in the Writer Guide. You can be more
lenient by trying semicolons first, then commas and then white space.
Comment 6 mst.ooo 2008-05-27 17:41:57 UTC
well, that lack of documentation sounds like a bug to me :)
but actually, i do not want to split on white space, because i could well
imagine someone using keywords that consist of multiple words...
Comment 7 andreas.martens 2008-05-28 07:36:23 UTC
Reassigned to mst

.
Comment 9 mst.ooo 2008-05-28 09:50:25 UTC
we just found out that keywords in 3.0 are tokenized the same way as in 2.x.
so this is purely a documentation bug.
the help page for the document properties dialog does not mention how keywords
are separated.

it should mention that keywords are separated by commas, and only by commas. (it
could also mention that a single keyword may consist of multiple whitespace
separated words)

reassigning, and changing subject...

Which manual do you want to be updated? Without exact specification, this is
impossible to fix.
Comment 11 wdonne 2008-05-28 10:34:51 UTC
The manual of each OOo application that supports metadata keywords. ODF allowes the creation of
multiple keywords. The label of the keywords line says "Keywords" (plural), so the user should be
informed how exactly multiple keywords can be entered.
Comment 12 mst.ooo 2008-05-28 10:44:45 UTC
@ufi:
personally, i have never even _seen_ a manual, so the answer would be "any
manual that mentions the document properties dialog"
oh, and then there is the online help... just open File->Properties->Description
and click on help.
Comment 13 wdonne 2008-05-28 10:51:23 UTC
The online help is also incomplete.
Comment 14 Uwe Fischer 2008-05-28 11:13:24 UTC
Will change application help files shared/01/about_meta_tags.xhp and
shared/01/01100100.xhp in CWS hcshared19:
it should mention that keywords are separated by commas, and only by commas. (it
could also mention that a single keyword may consist of multiple whitespace
separated words)

changing owner to default OOoAuthors' Writer Guide author as soon as I find out
who that might be
Comment 15 Uwe Fischer 2008-05-28 12:32:59 UTC
Changed owner to OOoAuthors, Jean
Comment 16 jeanweber 2008-05-29 01:05:52 UTC
I will take care of this for the Writer Guide and probably other user guides.
Comment 17 Martin Hollmichel 2008-09-26 11:01:25 UTC
set target 3.1
Comment 18 Marcus 2017-05-20 11:33:20 UTC
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
