See the forum post for background info, but in short:

Install 2.4, associate OOO with filetypes.
Install 3.0, do not associate with filetypes.

Filetype assocations are deleted and must be manually fixed.

Please be more detailed: What file type association has changed exactly?

The only association I know for sure would be xls, but I'd have to check to see
if any others were. The filetype was no longer associated with any file, even
though 2.4 and 3.0-beta were both installed, i.e., there was the generic white
Microsoft logo and opening the file launched the 'Open with' dialog.
