I use daily OO 2.4 for OO file but also DOC and XLS without problem.
I install OO 3 Beta to open XSLS file but I don't uninstall OO 2.4.
(I include DOC extension as openable by OO)
I attempt to open XSLS file with OO 3 : it's OK but not too fast.
I attempt to open a DOC file (from MS Word) with OO 2.4 and it is opened by
Wordpad and a error message said that DOC file is not known.

I uninstall OO 3 beta, the problem stays.
I uninstall OO 2.4 and reinstall it : problem is fixed.
