Having only three fields for standard filter is too few. I propose separating it
into as many groups as we have columns to filter (the group is selected from
drop-down list). So we could have three fields for each column, I guess it would
be enough. Also I'd like to have something like visible (and switched on by
default) 'Simple wildcards' checkbox to enable usage of 'Some*te?t' without
dots. Wildcards are easily transformed to regular expressions by just adding
dots in front (like 'Some.*te.?t'). '*' and '?' are rare characters, unlike dot,
I guess they could be on by default.

reassigning features and enhancements to user requirements@openoffice.org which
will be the default owner for those tasks (was introduced some time ago)
