Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 9201
provide server-side conversion of XML developer manuals
Last modified: 2010-04-19 10:26:45 UTC
Installation of the XML filter required to view the developer manuals is frustrating. I eventually gave up when i got ./regcomp: error while loading shared libraries: libsal.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Why not provide conversion to a viewable format (sxw or html) right on the server? Click on the link, view in your browser.
Perhaps an easy way to do this would be to provide a stylesheet so that the XML file can be viewed in a browser.
In the Developer release the Flat file XML Filter is included in the setup. It is included as a custom install option. Is that ok for this issue to be resolved?
Can I suggest that this issue be closed? Let me know. Thanks.
Why not set this bug to "later" rather than closing it? I still think that one should be able to view the documents in a browser. The current setup essentially stops anyone who doesn't have the developer release installed from viewing these files. Why can't there be either a server side filter which converts the the XML file to HTML, or some other solution for viewing the files in a browser?
setting to later. Thanks.
Dev Guide got converted to the web meanwhile, at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/DevGuide/OpenOffice.org_Developers_Guide I suppose this issue can be closed now.
