1. Open Calc en create data and Chart with these data
2. Open Impress and copy-paste delected data and chart from Calc to Impress
3. Edit SpreadSheet in Impress'document
--> possible to modify data
--> Chart update broken (according to
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=29848 )
--> unable to Edit Chart (no duplicate issue found... but possibly linked with
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=92192 )

@frizou:
Pls. describe more detailed how you copied data and chart to impress!
Comment 2 frizou 2008-07-28 18:55:41 UTC
Ok.
My way to copy from Calc to Impress:
. in Calc, select zone from A1 to O13 (in my case, it covers data and chart)
. Ctrl-C
. switch to Impress and clic in free slide zone
. Ctrl-V
--> a OLE SpreadSheet have been created inside Impress.

Issue http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=92192 deals with a
limitation of nested OLE links. Is-it the true/only cause of non-editable Chart?

I checked with "2.4.1 Multilingual version German UI WIN XP:
[680m17(Build9310)]" and can confirm the reported effect. Same problem with
"Ooo-dev 3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [300m27 (Build9336)]"

Steps to reproduce:
0. unzip "testkit.zip"
1. open mytest.ods
2. click on 'A1', hold left button and higlight 'A1:G24'
3. release left mouse button
4. Menu 'edit -> copy'
5. open new presentation
6. click on empty presentation slide
7. Menu 'Edit -> Paste special -> "Calc8"'
   Spreadsheet containing chart should be inserted
8. Modify 'B5, replace "4" by "10"
   Expected: pie slice "d" should increase
   Actual: nothing.

I did not find any method to modify the chart, rightclick did not lead to a menu
with "edit chart".

But if you remove the chart from the inserted spreadsheet (<cntrl>+<x>, leave
the spreadsheet and paste the chart into the presentation slide, doubleclick
right click will open a context menu with a "Diagram Table". You will see that
the value for "d" still is "4", the modification in step "8" has not modified
the chart.

(Funny thing, when I tried yesterday it was absolutely impossible for me to get
the chart into the copied contents in step 4.)

This is not a special spreadsheet - chart - impress problem, you get similar
problem with a formula in a writer document pasted as OLE into a DRAW document
and for all similar operations.

I see this as an Enhancement request related to Issue 92192, user experience
team should decide.
