Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 9256
Cell merge incorrect after split in complex table
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
I use WinNT 4.0, SP6 Steps to reproduce problem: 1) Start a new text document in OO Writer. 2) Goto menu Insert->Table to insert the table. Enter 4 for number of Rows. 3) After insert the table, select cells [1st column, 2nd row] and [1st column, 3rd row]. 4) Merge these 2 cells using menu Format->Cell->Merge. 5) Click on cell [2nd column, 3rd row]. 6) Goto menu Format->Row->Insert. Insert Rows dialog will pop up. 7) In Insert Rows dialog, kept default value 1 in Amount and After in Position. Hit Enter to insert a row. 8) Click on the merged cell (now it look like it covers 3 cells). 9) Goto menu Format->Cell->Split. Split Cells dialog will pop up. 10) In Split Cells menu, enter 3 for Amount, and pick Horizontal in Direction. 11) Hit OK, to split the merged cell into 3 cells. Now, the table look normally without any merged cells. 12) Select cells [1st column, 2nd row] and [1st column, 3rd row]. 13) Merge these 2 cells using menu Format->Cell->Merge. What we will see that the cells [1st column, 3rd row] and [1st column, 4th row] are merged, not the cells [1st column, 2nd row] and [1st column, 3rd row] as we selected.
set Priority to P4... reassigned to dvo@openoffice.org changed Summary from "Cell merge incorrect after split" to "Cell merge incorrect after split in complex table" @dvo: please attend, maybe it will be resolved with new table concept?
.
According to the OpenOffice.org roadmap (http://tools.openoffice.org/releases) this issue was retargeted to OOo Later.

I can no longer reproduce this with OpenOffice 3.0. When I insert the row in step 7, it adds a row below the merged cell (not more space inside it). I also tried to replace 3rd row with 2nd row in step 5, but still could not reproduce the bug.
