Default tabulations cannot be removed.
Only workaround is to go to Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org Writer > General,
and enter a large number in the tab stop field.

Or at least provide this method in the documentation. See thread linked above.

While several work-arounds have been suggested on the forum, it would be nice to
simply clear the default tabs with a click, or two.
