Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 92803
Make word completion less obnoxious at the margin
Last modified: 2014-03-20 12:44:28 UTC
When typing near the end of a line, often word completion will suggest long words which cause the cursor to wrap to the next line. This is obnoxious because it forces the user to have to locate where the word has moved to in order to evaluate the validity of the suggested completion. More obnoxiously, as the user continues to type and the suggestion disappears (or is replaced by a shorter word) the cursor may "unwrap" back to the previous line. For especially long words, this may cause the cursor to jump up and down four or five times as the user types, making it nearly impossible to track with the eyes. This UX wart could be fixed by exempting auto-completed characters from the normal wrap rules. Allow the auto-completed word to run over the margin until the user accepts the suggestion, at which point you convert the suggested characters to real characters and wrap accordingly.
Reassigned to requirements.
