Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 93498
Changing text with apply-style drop-down box needs to repaint before adjusting text
Last modified: 2008-09-12 23:47:04 UTC
The style is default text, Times New Roman and font size 12. At the top of the screen are the following 5 lines: "the last line of a paragraph is at the top of the screen. The Test The beginning of a three-line paragraph." Place the cursor on the line with "The Test". Enable the "apply style" drop-down box on the tool bar to change the line text to "Heading 3". The drop down box covers the first two lines of the paragraph after "The Test" The increased text size for "The Test" pushes down the the text below it (including the screen real estate with the drop down box), and then it repaints the area where the drop down box originally existed. This leaves the bottom part of the drop down box on screen until some event (scroll the area off screen and back, or switch screens and back) causes the screen to repaint. One approach would be to reverse the events so you repaint the drop down box area before applying the text change. This is openoffice.org-2.4.1-17.4.fc9, obviously on Fedora 9.
Reassigned to ES.
I cannot reproduce it. Please attach a screenshot.
Created attachment 56264 [details] Before image 1
Created attachment 56265 [details] During the text change for example 1
Created attachment 56266 [details] Screen after text style change, example 1
Created attachment 56267 [details] The same screen effect occurs when changing font size
Created attachment 56268 [details] Also happens if font is bigger but fonts differ only a little in size
Created attachment 56269 [details] It seems a necessary additional step would display text far enough down a page that the top of the screen is not protected from being covered by the top page margin.
Cannot reproduce. Maybe linked to your specific environment. The severity of the issue doesn't justify to recreate the environment. Use Ctrl+Shift+R to refresh and check this in a current version.
