Description tom_sm 2008-09-25 15:43:51 UTC
Email document as attachment from OpenOffice Writer. Outlook express "new
message" opens.
Copy the email address from the document in writer and try to paste it in the
To field of Outlook Express: OpenOffice writer crashes.

NL: Open een document in writer. Hierin staat een emailadres. Kopieer dit adres.
Kies Verzenden >> document als email >> een "nieuw bericht" van outlook express
verschijnt met als bijlage het document. Plak het emailadres in het AAN veld:
Writer loopt vast.

I successfully replicated the bug on Windows XP Home in 680m17(build:9310).
A good follow up test would be ,even if I send ,say Temp1 file in to
attachment of the outlook and copy the address from completely different open
office file say Temp2, It still freezes.
Possible work around is If I open the Microsoft outlook first ,Click on New
and Then click on Insert a File and I choose the open office file ,at this
time pasting the email address wont freeze OO .
I think this is a P3 issue because The application hangs in a special
circumstances .

I have similar but not exactly equivalent problem.
1)Open simple document.
2)Copy a short part of text (in real life an email adress)
3)File > Send > Document as E-mail
4)Go in any other application (more logically, your email program, but I tested
with notepad ++ and it works the same)
5)Paste in the target application : the target application freezes.
It doesn't happen on GNU/Linux
So it looks like the Send > Document as email corrupts the clipboard (actually,
while the application is frozen, the clipboard doesn't work in any other
application : for instance I can't use copy paste in this page)
(Win XP OOo3.1)

@tom_sm :can you please change the "component" field of the issue to
"framework"? and change the summary to something more general, as the problem
happens with any OOo component (Writer, Calc, Impress) and is not related to a
particular third party application. Thanks.

component to framework
Now, who to assign this one to?
Comment 5 Mathias_Bauer 2010-03-03 12:04:02 UTC
I think Carsten is the right one for this

Some questions...
 (1) Does this still occur in current OOo 3.2?
 (2) Is Office crashing or hanging?
(2a) If crash: What about a crash report?
(2b1) If hang: Forever or only "far too long"?
(2b2) If hang: (see Task manager) Is soffice "stalled" or "using ~100% CPU"?

Please comment here (based on findings in OOo 3.2 or DEV300 version only), thank
you.

Comment 7 tom_sm 2010-03-04 07:57:02 UTC
Yes, this issue still exists in 0O0 3.2.
Office does not respond according to the task manager.
CPU load is normal.

This is the error I get in the event viewer:
Application hang:
szAppName : soffice.bin szAppVer : 3.2.9476.500 szModName : hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000
Comment 8 camillem 2010-03-04 08:17:23 UTC
Same here :
(1) still occur in current OOo 3.2
 (2) OOffice hanging
(2b1) Hang: till the message is email window is closed (see 3)
 (2b2)Is soffice is "stalled"

(3) Additionnal info : the target application in which you paste hangs also. In
normal use, this application is the email window : so you can't close it, so you
have to kill OOo. But, if you paste in another application (like notepad++),
this application will hang but your email window will behave normally. If you
close this windows, it un-hangs both OOo and target application (notepad++).

I think the Subcomponent for this issue (www) is wrong.
