Description Stephan Bergmann 2008-09-30 09:22:51 UTC
For example, searching the mailing list archive of
interface-announce@openoffice.org via
<http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/SearchList?listName=interface-announce>,
searching authors for neither

  stephan.bergmann@sun.com

nor

  "stephan.bergmann@sun.com"

nor

  bergmann

finds any of the mails sent by me in July--September 2008 (e.g.,
<http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=interface-announce&msgNo=1182>).

Stefan,

Running a full indexer on eyebrowse/message should resolve the issue.
Schedule a less traffic time when the indexer could be ran. So, that we can
run it from the admin UI.

Regards,
Harsha
Support Operations.
Comment 6 Martin Hollmichel 2008-11-12 13:09:24 UTC
what is the expected duration of the indexer run ?
Comment 7 Unknown 2008-11-20 16:05:02 UTC
The expected duration to run the indexer is one week. This task does not need
any downtime. Can we start the indexer by Friday. Please let us know your
feasible time to proceed on the task.

Regards,
Harsha
Support Operations.
Comment 8 Unknown 2008-12-18 21:36:22 UTC

Comment 9 stx123 2008-12-23 17:04:36 UTC
I think it would have the least impact if it could be run during the holiday
period from 2008-12-23 to 2009-01-04.
Comment 10 Unknown 2008-12-30 04:42:12 UTC
I have started the full indexer for eyebrowse/message and shall update you once
the indexer is completed.

Harsha

Hi,

We did not start full index rebuilds due to the performance constraints.
Constructing it again will have huge impact on the Website because of the large
data set. I am working with our internal team to find the alternatives that can
be driven to crack down this issue. Until such time, we would recommend you to
use "http://markmail.org/" for searching mailing list.

Thank you for your patience.

Support Operations.
Comment 12 Unknown 2009-01-21 09:07:00 UTC
OOPS, I must tell you that the indexer was started and stopped few days back
because it influenced the performance of the site. I am sorry, the comment
updated(indexer stopping) in our Ticket system did not get updated here on the
same day. We are supposed to restart the full indexing today. But, Our
engineering recommends us to not to ahead with the full indexing. I am in search
of alternatives to crackdown this issue.

Thanks and Regards,
Karthikeyan.S,
Support Operations.
Comment 13 Unknown 2009-01-22 11:30:22 UTC
Hi Everyone,

Our Engineering thinks that, there is no other way to fix this issue unless
and until we run full indexing. Running indexing is ruled out because it will
have a huge impact on the site's performance because of the huge dataset.

The only option left out is use "http://markmail.org/" for searching mails.

Regards,
Karthikeyan.S,
Support Operations.
