Description markusl 2008-10-16 23:58:39 UTC
Steps to reproduce the problem:

1) Launch OOo. The Start Centre appears.
2) Press D. A new Writer document is created.
3) Either press Ctrl+W or click the small X button *below* the title bar to
close the document without closing the application. The document is closed.
The Start Centre reappears.
4) Press D again. Nothing happens. (But the application has not crashed:
clicking one of the icons will produce the expected results.)

I believe that the problem relates to keyboard focus. I know of three ways to
move the focus back to the Start Centre, so that the hotkeys work again:

1) Alt+Tab away from OOo, and then Alt+Tab back again; or
2) Use one of the menu commands: for example, either type Alt,H,B or click on
Help|About; or
3) Tab the Alt key twice.

Environment: I'm running OOO300m9 (build 9358) on KDE on Ubuntu Linux. I'm
using kwin, the standard window manager that comes with KDE.

Apolologies for my bad typing. That last numbered point should have read:

3) Tap the Alt key twice.
