Description rodejetta 2008-11-05 16:08:27 UTC
The are still compatibility problems going from OO2.4 to 3.0 with Empress files
(odp, not ppt!) as far as I can see. Wipe-animation shows an ugly background,
taken from the same slide, but apparently from random points within that slide.
There has been one issue about this, but trying those suggestions did not work
for me (restart OO3 and saving the file in OO3). The problem behind it was also
described, and I appreciate that it is complex, but it does not help me improve
the slide show. The animation is also, as mentioned in that issue, slow
The file was made in 2.4 in Linux 10.3 and used as such in 3.0 in windows xp and
then also in Linux Suse 11, both giving the same problem. Then saving the file
in OO3.0 did not get rid of the problem.

I have a 3-slide file showing the problem that I am happy to send you, but where
should e-mail it to?

Indeed! I checked with "Ooo 3.0.0 RC3 Multilingual version German UI WIN XP:
[OOO300m8 (Build9357)]" and can confirm the reported effect, 3.0 is completely
unfit as viewer for that presentation. Works fine with "2.4.1 Multilingual
version German UI WIN XP: [680m17(Build9310)]".
My gryphic card: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE

Related to Issue 95319? Problem disappears when I uncheck menu 'Tools -> Options
-> OOo -> View - Graphics output - Use hardware acceleration'.

Hi

As mentioned in the description I gave, I work in Linux, Suse 10.3, OO 2.4, and
have at home, where I tested Linux Suse 11 as well as winXP; I had to do the
presentation in Windows XP on a laptop on which I loaded OO3.0 first and tested
it there. That showed the problem for the first time. The file I attached was
made on the Linux Suse10.3 machine, a Dell machine of this year.

@rodejetta:
Does the workaround improve results for you on both machines?
Can you please try Issue 95319 with Linux?

Hi

1. Switching off acceleration in OO3 on that laptop and my main machine made the
wipe problem in windowsXP vanish.
2.Then I did some more testing. Remade the wipe animation problem file in OO3;
and that also gave the problems in winXP with acceleration ON
3. Next I tested both the OO3 and OO2.4 problem-files on my son's laptop
computer, an MSI M6620 with Linux Suse11 and OO3 as well as OO2.4. Both
problem-files worked fine in OO3 (and OO2.4 of course) with acceleration
switched ON! He has an intel video card in it, nothing special. Needless to say,
with acceleration off, it worked fine also.
4. Then I loaded Suse 11 on that first laptop as well as OO3. The problem files
in Linux worked fine, although there is apparently no acceleration possible on
this machine, at least I could not find a setting for it.
In short, it appears the the problem mainly shows up in WindowsXP an that it can
be cleared by switching the hardware acceleration off, and there is a work-around.

I hope this helped to narrow where the problem is located. Many, many thanks for
your help. Yes, there was a problem, but OO is in my opinion far superior to MS
or WP offices and I have used both extensively!
